We are a growing network of mental health clinicians and wellness providers based in Carteret, Craven, Pamlico, and Onslow counties — with a vision to connect and collaborate across all of Eastern North Carolina.

C.A.R.E. stands for Clinicians, Area Resources, and Referral Exchange. Our mission is to create a strong, reliable provider community where we can:

  • Refer clients with confidence

  • Stay informed about local services

  • Support each other through shared wisdom

  • Offer educational talks and workshops for one another and the public

Our Mission

“DownEast C.A.R.E. exists to foster collaboration, connection, and community among local mental health providers. Through regular meetups, resource sharing, and a strong referral network, we support one another’s growth while expanding access to care across our region. Together, we ensure no provider practices in isolation—and no client falls through the cracks.”

Our Name

In North Carolina, "DownEast" typically refers to the eastern coastal region of the state, especially Carteret County and parts of Craven, Pamlico, Onslow, and Beaufort counties. We are known for a rich maritime culture, small fishing communities, and distinct dialect.  DownEast more broadly to includes areas east of I-95.
